Greetings, church!

First of all, I wanted to remind everyone of the luncheon that we have planned for this coming Sunday, October 25th.  This is another one of our potluck luncheons where the church is providing the meat & drinks, so if you have not signed up to let us know what you are bringing, please just reply to this email and let us know.

Just a reminder – if you are bringing a side that needs to be warm when served, please bring it warm.  We do have a warmer to maintain the temperature of the food, but we don’t really have the capability of warming something up.

Church, these potluck luncheons are always great, so please make plans to stay after church and join us!  Bruce will be sending out more info not appropriate for me to share as it’s our Pastor’s Appreciation luncheon, but I did want to share the logistics of the luncheon info for anyone who has missed it.

As for yesterday, we began looking at Psalm 23:4 and learned that not every path that we are led on will be a mountaintop experience. No, some of these paths of righteousness will be valleys.  But what we learned is that we are not pitching camp in this valley of the shadow of death; we are meant to walk through them.  We also learned that it’s not the valley of death that we are walking through. No, it’s the valley of the shadow of death –meaning that it’s the illusion of death that we walk through.  In other words, the real culprit is fear – False Expectations Appearing Real.

But most importantly, we learned how we are to respond when these temptations to fear come – by saying something!  Yes, the best way to counter fear-filled thoughts is with faith-filled words!

Here’s what we have on tap for this week:

1.   The Pastor’s Study live video will be held Tuesday night @ 5:30 this week.  We will continue our study of Ephesians tonight, so join me on our Facebook page!  If you haven’t joined or if you need help finding it, just let me know.

2.   Our Wednesday Evening Prayer / Bible Study group meets on Wednesday night @ 7 PM.  Come join us for these great times of fellowship, Bible study, and prayer!  We meet in the House of Expectation every Wednesday!

3.  Healing School meets Thursday morning @ 10:30 AM in the House of Expectation.  This week, Minton and I will begin a study of the healings in the Book of Acts entitled “Healing Acts.”  Come hear and be healed!

4.  Finally, our Women’s Breakfast will be held this Saturday morning @ 9 AM at the IHOP on Mercer University Drive.  All of you ladies are invited to join Shannon for some good fellowship!  Please let her know if you plan on attending.

Don’t forget to grab a November calendar this coming Sunday! One very special thing upcoming at the beginning of the month is the ordination of my wife, Shannon!  Yes, Shannon will be ordained for ministry on Sunday, November 1st, meaning we will pray over her and she will minister the Word to us on that Sunday morning!

Victoriously,
Pastor Trey Dickerson
